Add to myYahoo!I checked out a few of the blogs by the usual suspects this morning, and noticed that the creationists are largely silent (so far, give 'em time) on the Dover documentary from last night…with one exception. The Discovery Institute's Media Complaints Division is wound up over it. They have an eight-point "rebuttal" of the documentary that consists of many picked nits and regurgitated whines, and I thought about taking them on point by point, but then decided it wasn't worth it. Two University of Illinois scientists have found a way to help health-care providers, social workers, and abused women?s families understand the stages that these women go through when deciding to leave their partners. ?The process of leaving an abusive relationship can take years, and there may be many attempts before a woman finally leaves permanently. It can be a frustrating experience for the people who are trying to help her, especially if they don?t understand the stages that women go through before they are able to leave."

Add to myYahoo!Soon after 9-11, Americans wondered aloud: How did our guardians miss the clues? Suspects on watch lists had moved money in curious ways. ?Chatter? had risen in recent months. A visitor to the country had offered cash to learn how to fly?but not land?a jetliner. In hindsight, these telltale nuggets provided evidence of the terror to come. Or did they?

Add to myYahoo! From SCI FI Tech: If you aren't spooked by elevators, that might change if you take a ride in Taipei's Taipei 101 building. That's because it sports the fastest elevator in the world, shooting people up from the 5th floor to the 89th floor in a mere 37 seconds. That's fast.
